Cattle Futures Volume Active Mon

MORNING LIVESTOCK FUTURES OUTLOOK

LIVE CATTLE

Live Cattle futures volume was active Monday and mainly speculative.  February bounced up to the 50 day moving average and then gave up gains moving down to where the 5 and 10 day moving averages converge.   April Live Cattle trading was moderately active.  Speculators rolling out of February into April was the main activity throughout the day.

 

LEAN HOGS

Hogs down on the CME Lean Hog Index and the CME Pork Cutout Index higher has packers happier than pigs in mud. The weather didn’t seem to be a concern to packers with kill the same number of hogs they did a year ago. Packers are working in the black and as long as they can do it, they will keep kill up.
